Muncaster Luck Fell Race
Muncaster Luck is a British Mountain category fell race held on 15 March 2026 at Muncaster Castle in the Lake District, England. The course covers 15 km (about 9.3 miles) with approximately 620 m of climb (about 2034 ft). The venue is the Muncaster Castle car park, CA18 1RD, grid reference SD097966.
Entry is on the day only, cash only, with a fee of £5. Competitors must be at least 18 years old. Teams are allowed with three to count. The race holds a permit from the Fell Runners Association and is run under FRA competition rules.
Although the route does not go onto the high fells, the ground is rough and navigation can be required in misty conditions. The section between Raven Crag and the Pepper Pot is noted as testing, and there are two crossings of the River Esk that can be challenging. A 60 minute time cut-off applies at the first Esk crossing.
Parking is in the Muncaster Castle car park; registration is adjacent to the castle ticket office lodge where toilets are available. Spectators entering the Castle grounds may be charged. Dogs are not permitted because of lambing time.
All competitors must carry required kit; this will be checked before the start. Required items include waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, a map of the race route, compass, whistle and emergency food. If a signed competitor does not start or retires during the race they must inform the Race Organiser or a marshal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
