Muncaster Luck Fell Race

The event is scheduled for the 15th of March. The course is approximately 15 km long with an ascent of 620 meters. Entry is on the day only, costs £5, and payment is cash only.

The terrain is rough, and navigation can be tricky in misty conditions. The ground between Raven Crag and the Pepper Pot is noted as particularly difficult. There are two crossings of the River Esk. The race is permitted by the Fell Runners Association (FRA) and held under FRA rules. It is a BM category race.

Runners must be over 18 years old. They are required to carry full mandatory kit, which includes waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and an integrated hood, hat, gloves, a map of the race route, compass, whistle, and emergency food. Kit will be checked before the start.

Parking is in the Muncaster Castle car park. Registration is adjacent to the castle's ticket office lodge, where toilets are also located. Participants are advised to take care crossing the A595 road. Dogs are not allowed due to lambing season.

Spectators should note there is a charge to enter the castle grounds. If a runner retires during the race, they must inform a marshal or the Race Organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
