MTC Pendragon overview
The MTC Pendragon is a 46 mile ultra running event held on 17 April 2026. It forms Day 4 of the six day MTC CYMRUN end to end of Wales and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The event is quadrennial and will next run again in 2030.
Route and logistics
The route largely follows National Cycle Route 8 from Llanidloes to Glasbury, with a short one mile variation at the start when leaving Llanidloes. The official start location is the Red Lion Hotel, Llanidloes and the finish is at the River Wye Activity Centre, Glasbury. Total recorded distance is 46.3 miles with approximately 4,170 ft ascent and 4,429 ft descent. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants four weeks before the event and on-course competitor tracking is used.
Entry, cut-offs and prizes
Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors plus 20 CYMRUN entrants for a maximum of 40. The event enforces a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph and preset cut-off points; competitors falling below this pace may be withdrawn. All finishers receive a bespoke Pendragon medal. Male and female champions receive trophies.
Safety, kit and rules
Competitors must be aged 20 years or over on the day of the race. A mandatory kit list is enforced and includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit. Organisers provide tracking devices with SOS functions. The race is cup free so competitors should bring a reusable cup. All entries and payments are non refundable unless otherwise stated in the event terms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
