MTC Pendragon
The MTC Pendragon is a 46 mile ultra run that follows National Cycle Route 8 from Llanidloes to Glasbury. It is Day 4 of the six day MTC CYMRUN end to end challenge and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End series. The event is held on a quadrennial cycle beginning in 2026 and next returning in 2030.
Entry is limited to 20 race competitors with an additional allowance of 20 CYMRUN entrants, creating a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a bespoke Pendragon medal. Male and female champions receive trophies; trophy designs are still in development. There is a Cup Free policy so competitors must bring a reusable cup.
The race uses preset cut off points set to a minimum average pace of 4 mph; competitors who fall below that requirement may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed about four weeks before the event. The organiser issues tracking devices with an SOS function to monitor competitor progress.
Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, emergency food and a waterproof map case. Entry fees are non refundable. Standard entry is £90.00. A Plus Race Package at £155.00 includes an embroidered race shirt and lightweight hi‑viz jacket if purchased at least four weeks before the event.
