Event

The MTC Pendragon is a single-day ultra running event on 17 April 2026. The race distance is 46 miles and it forms Day 4 of the Mount to Coast CYMRUN six-day end-to-end of Wales. Pendragon is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series and is a quadrennial event that will next return in 2030. All finishers receive a bespoke Pendragon medal; male and female champions also receive trophies. Entry options include a standard entry and a plus package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket. Entry fees are stated as £90.00 for the race and £155.00 for the plus package.

Route and logistics

The route starts in Llanidloes and finishes at the River Wye Activity Centre in Glasbury, following National Cycle Route 8 for almost the entire course. Checkpoints are located along the route at approximately 8.6 miles, 16.8 miles, 25.2 miles, and 34.1 miles, with a total distance of about 46.3 miles. Competitor numbers are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 for CYMRUN entrants (maximum 40). The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4 mph and has preset cut-offs based on that requirement; competitors who fall below the limit may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants before the race and competitors are issued tracking devices with an SOS function. The race is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit items are required, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
