MTC Pendragon overview

The MTC Pendragon is a single-day ultra running event of 46 miles. It is Day 4 of the six-day MTC CYMRUN Wales end-to-end challenge. The route follows National Cycle Route 8 from Llanidloes to Glasbury, with a short deviation of about one mile when leaving Llanidloes. The start location is The Red Lion Hotel in Llanidloes and the finish is the River Wye Activity Centre in Glasbury.

Route, rules and entry

Competitor numbers are limited to 20 entries plus an additional 20 places for CYMRUN participants, for a maximum of 40 starters. The event enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement will be withdrawn. Cut-off times are set at checkpoints based on that minimum speed. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants and emailed about four weeks before the event. URL issues tracking devices with SOS capability for monitoring during the race.

Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. The race is cup-free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Entry fee options are £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All finishers receive a Pendragon medal; male and female champions will receive trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
