MTC Pendragon (Event)
The MTC Pendragon is scheduled for 17 April 2026 and is the fourth day of the six-day MTC CYMRUN end-to-end of Wales. The race is listed as a 46.3 mile ultra (often described as 46 miles) and is the first edition of this quadrennial event, which returns every four years. All finishers receive a bespoke Pendragon medal; male and female champions receive trophies.
Route, entry and rules
The route starts in Llanidloes and finishes at the River Wye Activity Centre, Glasbury, following National Cycle Route 8 for almost the entire course. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 regular entries plus an additional 20 for CYMRUN entrants, with a maximum of 40 starters. The organisers enforce preset cut-offs based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. Checkpoints are placed along the route and have closing times set relative to the race start.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack. The race is cup-free and competitors must bring a reusable cup. Entrants must be aged 20 or over on race day. Maps and GPX files and real-time tracking are provided to entrants only, and each competitor will be issued a tracking device with an SOS function. Entry fees are listed at £90, with a race package option at £155 that includes race clothing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
