Ultra Marathon Challenge

The MTC Morag is a long-distance running event covering a total distance of 44.8 miles. This single-day ultra marathon starts from Inverness and concludes in Dornoch. The event is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series and serves as the seventh day of "Scotia," a nine-day journey across Scotland.

The course follows a route from the Travelodge in Inverness to the Eagle Hotel in Dornoch, passing through several designated checkpoints including Knockbain, Dingwall, Invergordon, and Tain. Participants must maintain a minimum average speed of 4 mph to remain in the race. This is a cup-free event, meaning runners are required to provide their own reusable cups for hydration.

Participants are required to carry mandatory safety equipment, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, a compass or GPS device, a whistle, a mobile phone, and a basic first aid kit. The organizers provide each runner with a tracking device for monitoring progress and safety via a real-time map link. Checkpoints along the route offer food items such as malt loaf, sandwiches, and various snacks.

All finishers receive a bespoke race medal. The event has a limited capacity, with a maximum of 40 participants allowed on the course, including those taking part in the full multi-day Scotia challenge.
