MTC MORAG : overview
MTC MORAG is a single-day ultra held on 2 June 2028. It is the 1st edition and forms Day 7 of the Mount to Coast SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end series. The advertised total distance is 44.8 miles with ascent of 2,543 ft and descent of 2,539 ft. Entry is limited to 20 standard race places with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA places, for a maximum of 40 competitors. All finishers receive a MORAG medal; male and female champions also receive bespoke trophies. An optional race package is available that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the race and £155 for the Plus Race Package.
Route, kit and race rules
The route includes checkpoint locations and cumulative mileages: CP1 Knockbain (8.8 miles), CP2 Dingwall (18.9 miles), CP3 Invergordon (26.4 miles), CP4 Scotsburn Rd (34.6 miles), and finish at Eagle Hotel (44.8 miles). Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food, and a waterproof map case. Organisers provide a tracking device with an SOS function. The event enforces preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; falling below this minimum can lead to withdrawal.
