MTC MORAG
The Mount to Coast MORAG is a single day ultra running event covering 45 miles and forming Day 7 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA end to end of Scotland. This is the first edition. The route total distance is also shown as 44.8 miles with a recorded ascent of 2,543 ft and descent of 2,539 ft.
Entry is limited to 20 competitors with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors for a maximum field of 40. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi‑viz race jacket if booked at least four weeks before the event. All payments and deposits are non refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is available at booking and a defer option can be used up to four weeks before the race for a fee.
Cut off times are set at checkpoints using a minimum average speed of 4 mph. Competitors who fall below this minimum may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants four weeks before the event and tracking devices with SOS capability are provided during the race.
All finishers receive a MORAG medal and male and female champions receive trophies. Competitors must meet the event rules and carry the mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, emergency food and a waterproof map case. The race is cup free so entrants must bring a reusable cup. Checkpoint food examples include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.
