MTC Merry Maidens
The MTC Merry Maidens is a single-day ultra covering approximately 34.5 miles, new for 2029. The route runs from Premier Inn, Truro to Lands End and follows the same course used for the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. The event also serves as Day 13 of the MTC ALBION thirteen day end to end challenge.
Entries are limited to 20 general race places with an additional allowance of 20 places for ALBION competitors, making a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a Merry Maidens medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies, currently in development. Race mapping and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event.
The organiser enforces time cut offs based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may receive a warning and can be withdrawn if the minimum is not met on consecutive days. The race is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Example check point provisions include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water and dietary needs are collected in advance.
Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack.
