MTC Merry Maidens
The MTC Merry Maidens is a single day ultra covering 34.5 miles along a route that follows the organisers JOGLE course with reduced daily distances. The route runs from Premier Inn, Truro to Lands End Hotel and includes three staffed check points located at Carnkie, Helston and Penzance. Total ascent is listed as 2,724 ft and total descent as 2,835 ft. This event also serves as Day 13 of the MTC ALBION thirteen day end to end of England.
Entrant numbers are limited to 20 for the race with an additional allowance of 20 for ALBION competitors giving a maximum of 40 participants. The organiser enforces preset cut off rules based on a minimum average of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this pace may receive warnings and can be withdrawn. All finishers receive a bespoke Merry Maidens medal and male and female champions receive trophies. An optional race package includes an embroidered shirt and a lightweight hi viz jacket if selected at checkout.
Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed approximately four weeks before the event. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, supplied route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Each competitor will be issued a tracking device with real time monitoring and an SOS function. The event is cup free; entrants should bring a reusable cup. Entry fees are non refundable.
