Event overview
The MTC Cerridwen (Mount to Coast Cerridwen) is a single-day ultra running race scheduled for 15 April 2026. The event is the second day of the MTC CYMRUN six-day end-to-end of Wales and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The course distance is 50.3 miles with total ascent of 4,806 ft and total descent of 4,807 ft. This is the first edition.
Route, entry and requirements
The route follows National Cycle Route 8 from Travelodge Caernarfon (Victoria Dock, Balaclava Rd, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, LL55 1SR) to Sandbanks Hotel, Marine Parade, Barmouth, LL42 1NE. Competitor places are limited to 20 regular entries plus an allowance of 20 CYMRUN competitors (maximum 40). Entry fee options listed are £90 for the standard entry and £155 for a race package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All entries and deposits are non-refundable; entrants may add optional personal cancellation insurance at booking.
The race enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; participants who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The event is cup-free and finishers receive a Cerridwen medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Entrants must be at least 20 years old. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants before the event and competitors are issued tracking devices with SOS capability.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
