Event
The MTC Cerridwen is a 50 mile ultra running event held on 15th April 2026. It is Day 2 of the six day MTC CYMRUN end-to-end challenge and part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The race is a quadrennial event, scheduled in 2026 and next returning in 2030. The first edition is listed as the 1st edition. Total distance is 50.3 miles with ascent of 4,806 ft and descent of 4,807 ft. Entry options include a standard fee of £90.00 and a Plus Race Package at £155.00 that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket; the clothing option must be ordered at least four weeks before the event. Competitor numbers are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 for CYMRUN entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. Entrants must be 20 years or over on race day.
Route, cutoffs and kit
The route follows National Cycle Route 8 from Travelodge Caernarfon to Sandbanks Hotel, Barmouth. Check-points and cumulative mileages are: CP1 Caernarfon (10.1 miles), CP2 Llanystumdwy (18.1 miles), CP3 Ysbyty Alltwen (27.2 miles), CP4 Talsarnau (35.6 miles), CP5 Llanbedr (44.0 miles) and finish at Sandbanks Hotel, Barmouth (50.3 miles). The organiser enforces preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
