MTC Cerridwen
The MTC Cerridwen is a single-day ultra running event of 50 miles. It forms Day 2 of the six-day MTC CYMRUN end-to-end challenge and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The route follows National Cycle Route 8 from Travelodge Caernarfon to the Sandbanks Hotel in Barmouth, with a total distance listed as 50.3 miles.
Competitor places are limited to 20 entries plus an additional 20 places for CYMRUN participants, giving a maximum field of 40. Entry options include a standard entry and a Plus Race Package; the standard fee is £90.00 and the Plus Race Package is £155.00. All deposits and payments are non-refundable, and entrants may add optional personal cancellation insurance at booking.
Finishers receive a Cerridwen medal. Male and female champions receive MTC race trophies. Maps and GPX files are supplied only to entrants, emailed about four weeks before the event. Real-time competitor tracking is provided during the race and tracking devices include an SOS function.
The event has preset cut-off controls based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below this minimum may be withdrawn. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, supplied route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, an emergency food pack, and a waterproof map case. The race is cup-free; competitors must use their own reusable cup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
