MTC Blue Caps

The MTC Blue Caps is an ultra marathon distance event covering a total of 35.5 miles (approximately 57 km). The race follows a segment of the established JOGLE route through the North West of England, starting in Wigan and concluding in Tarporley. This event operates as a standalone single day challenge and also serves as the fourth day of the MTC Albion, a 13-day multi-stage journey across England.

The course features three primary checkpoints along the route to provide support to participants:

  • Garswood (8 miles)
  • Mill Lane, Warrington (15.4 miles)
  • Little Leigh (24.4 miles)
  • Tarporley (35.5 miles / Finish)

This is a cup-free event, meaning participants are required to carry their own reusable drinking vessels. A minimum average pace of 4 mph is required to remain in the competition; participants falling below this requirement at designated cut-off points will be withdrawn. The field is limited to a maximum of 40 participants, including those completing the full multi-stage series.

Each participant receives a tracking device for safety and progress monitoring. Mandatory equipment includes a head torch with spare batteries, a compass or GPS device, a whistle, a mobile phone, and a basic first aid kit. All finishers are awarded a bespoke race medal, and trophies are presented to the male and female champions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
