MTC Blue Caps - Ultra Running
The MTC Blue Caps is a single day ultra event on the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. The published route covers 35.5 miles and follows the same course used by the MTC JOGLE event with reduced daily distances. The stage is also listed as Day 4 of the MTC Albion thirteen day end to end of England.
The course starts in Wigan and finishes in Tarporley. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 direct entries plus an allowance of 20 Albion entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. The organiser enforces preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of four miles per hour; competitors who fall below this limit may be withdrawn.
All finishers receive the Blue Caps medal and male and female champions receive bespoke trophies. Entrants may upgrade at checkout to include the official race shirt and a high visibility jacket; clothing guarantees require purchase at least four weeks before the event. The race is cup free so competitors should provide a reusable cup.
Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed prior to the event. The organiser provides a tracking device with an SOS button for each competitor. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, the supplied route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
