Event overview
The MTC Blue Caps is a single-day ultra running race of approximately 36 miles. It forms Day 4 of the MTC ALBION thirteen-day end-to-end of England and follows the same route used by the organiser’s JOGLE event but with shorter daily distances. The field is limited to 20 regular competitors, with an additional allowance of 20 ALBION entrants for a maximum of 40 starters. Entry options include a standard race fee and a plus package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket.
Route, logistics and rules
The route runs from Premier Inn Wigan North to The Swan at Tarporley and includes three official checkpoints en route. The organiser enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this standard may be withdrawn. Maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants prior to the event and the organiser provides tracking devices with SOS functionality. The race is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first-aid pack. Checkpoint food is provided with menus that may vary and competitors are asked to declare dietary requirements.
