Event overview

The MTC Blue Caps is a single-day ultra running event on Friday 16 July 2027. The route runs from Premier Inn Wigan North to The Swan at Tarporley and follows the same line used for the organiser’s JOGLE event but with shorter daily distance. The course total is 35.5 miles. The MTC Blue Caps is Day 4 of the MTC ALBION, a thirteen-day end-to-end of England within the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series.

Logistics and rules

Entries are limited to 20 competitors, with an additional allowance of 20 for ALBION entrants (maximum 40). Entry fees are non-refundable; there are paid entry options that include a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All finishers receive a Blue Caps medal; male and female champions receive trophies.

The race has preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; falling below this requirement can lead to withdrawal. Competitors receive route maps and GPX files only after entry and will be provided with a tracking device that includes an SOS function. The event is cup-free, so entrants must use a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Check-point food examples include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
