MTC Bertram de Shotts
The MTC Bertram de Shotts is a single-day ultra running event on 2 June 2027. The course covers a total distance of 42.6 miles and is listed as the first edition. The route runs from Atholl Arms Hotel, Pitlochry, to Forces Manor, Kingussie, and forms Day 5 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end of Scotland. The route records around 2,942 ft of ascent and 2,582 ft of descent. Finishers receive a bespoke Bertram de Shotts medal; male and female winners also receive trophies. An optional race package includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket.
Logistics, kit and entry
Competitor numbers are limited to 20 regular entries with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors (maximum 40). All entries are non-refundable; a personal cancellation insurance option is available at booking. Entry fees are listed at £90 for the standard entry and £155 for the Plus Race Package. Entrants must meet the organiser age requirement of at least 20 years.
The event is cup-free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Organisers provide tracking devices with SOS capability and will monitor competitors; maps and GPX files are issued to entrants before the event. The race enforces preset cut-off points based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors falling below this threshold may be withdrawn.
