Event

The MTC Bertram de Shotts is a single-day ultra running event listed at approximately 43 miles. It is presented as Day 5 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end challenge of Scotland. Route and logistics

The route is described as running from Pitlochry to Kingussie. Total distance is given in route details as 42.6 miles and ascent as 2,942 ft with 2,582 ft descent. Check-points are located at roughly 8.8 miles, 15.8 miles, 23.8 miles, 32.7 miles and the finish. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only, and competitors are given tracking devices with SOS capability for real-time monitoring.

Entry, kit and rules

Competitor numbers are limited to 20, with an extra allowance of 20 SCOTIA entrants for a maximum of 40. Entry fee options are listed at £90 or a £155 plus package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All deposits and payments are non-refundable. Entrants must meet minimum age requirements and carry mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid, emergency food and a waterproof map case. The race is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. The organiser enforces a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn.
