MTC Bertram de Shotts
The MTC Bertram de Shotts is a single day ultra covering a total distance of 42.6 miles. It is presented as Day 5 of the nine day Mount to Coast SCOTIA end to end challenge and forms one stage of that series. The event lists total ascent as 2,942 ft and total descent as 2,582 ft.
The published route starts at the Atholl Arms Hotel in Pitlochry and concludes at Forces Manor in Kingussie. Competitors on this race will also run alongside SCOTIA entrants when both events coincide. Entrant numbers are limited to 20 with an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors for a maximum of 40 starters.
The organisers operate preset cut offs based on a minimum average of 4 mph. Competitors who fall below this minimum will be warned and may be withdrawn. Tracking devices with SOS functionality are issued to entrants and route GPX and maps are provided to competitors approximately four weeks before the event.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack or equivalent, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit with emergency food. The event is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. All finishers receive a bespoke BERTRAM de SHOTTS medal and male and female champions receive trophies.
