MTC Bertram de Shotts

The MTC Bertram de Shotts is a one-day ultramarathon on 2nd June 2027. The race distance is approximately 43 miles and is the fifth day of the nine-day MTC SCOTIA end-to-end series. This is the first edition. The route begins at the Atholl Arms Hotel in Pitlochry and finishes at Forces Manor in Kingussie. Total ascent is listed as 2,942 ft and total descent as 2,582 ft. All finishers receive a bespoke Bertram de Shotts medal; male and female champions receive trophies.

Route, logistics and rules

Entry is limited to 20 competitors, with an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum of 40 starters. Entry fees are shown as £90 for the race and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes a race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All payments and deposits are non-refundable. Entrants must be aged 20 or over on race day. The organiser enforces preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit.
