MTC Bertram de Shotts : race overview

The MTC Bertram de Shotts is a one day ultra run scheduled for 31 May 2028. It is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge and serves as Day 5 of the nine day MTC SCOTIA series. The route runs from the Atholl Arms Hotel in Pitlochry to Forces Manor in Kingussie and is listed at approximately 43 miles with route data showing around 42.6 miles.

Entrant numbers are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 places for SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. The event uses preset cut off points based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. All deposits and entry fees are non refundable. A race plus package option includes an embroidered race shirt and lightweight hi viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event.

All finishers receive a bespoke BERTRAM de SHOTTS medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and emailed four weeks before the race. Competitors receive a tracking device with real time monitoring and an SOS function. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
