MTC Bertram de Shotts
The MTC Bertram de Shotts is a single day ultramarathon scheduled for 31 May 2028 and presented as the first edition of this event. The route runs between Pitlochry and Kingussie, starting at the Atholl Arms Hotel in Pitlochry and finishing at Forces Manor in Kingussie.
The route distance is listed as 42.6 miles with 2,942 ft of ascent and 2,582 ft of descent. The race forms Day 5 of the nine day Mount to Coast SCOTIA series and will run alongside SCOTIA competitors. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 plus an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA entrants, for a maximum of 40.
The event enforces a minimum average pace of 4.0 miles per hour and has preset cut off points along the route; falling below the minimum requirement may result in withdrawal. Entrants must be 20 years or over and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps as provided, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid pack. URL will provide competitor tracking devices with SOS function and maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants before the event.
All finishers receive a bespoke Bertram de Shotts medal. Entry fees are non refundable and the organiser offers an optional entry package that includes a race shirt and lightweight hi viz jacket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
