It is presented as Day 5 of the MTC SCOTIA nine-day end-to-end series and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. The first edition is scheduled for 31 May 2028.
The route starts at the Atholl Arms Hotel in Pitlochry and concludes at Forces Manor in Kingussie, with intermediate check points on National Cycle Route 7 and in Pitlochry, Dalwhinnie and Newtonmore. Entry is limited to 20 race-only competitors plus an additional allowance of 20 SCOTIA competitors, giving a maximum field of 40.
The event enforces preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, supplied route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Organisers supply a tracking device with an SOS function and provide maps and GPX files to entrants ahead of the race.
All finishers receive a bespoke Bertram de Shotts medal. Male and female champions receive trophies. The race operates as a cup-free event; competitors should bring a reusable cup. Entry fees and a plus package option with clothing are specified by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
