About the race
The Highlander Last One Standing is a backyard ultra held in a castle estate in Perthshire on 17 July 2027. Runners must complete a repeating loop of 4.167 miles each hour and be back at the start ready to go on the hour; any runner not finished inside the time limit and at the start line is disqualified. The event continues hour by hour until only one runner remains; that runner must complete a solo loop inside the time limit to be declared the winner.
Entry has no specific qualification requirement. The event is a Scottish Championship Silver Ticket event. All runners must follow race medical staff, marshals and race director instructions and comply with Covid 19 protocols and signage.
Prohibitions include no transfer of places, no muling, no walking poles, no support runners or bike buddies, and no dogs on the course. Use of NSAIDs during the race is strictly prohibited. Runners may not receive food or drink on the course from outside help; if a runner returns with under a minute before the next loop they may only receive provisions in the start pen.
Mandatory kit to carry includes a foil blanket, water container, food/energy bars, a working mobile with race control number entered, a small first aid kit and a race vest. Recommended items include waterproofs, warm layers, hat, gloves and midge protection.
Support crew must attend registration with a completed Covid 19 questionnaire and a support crew information form. Refund policy: a 30 day cooling off period applies with a £15 administration fee; after 30 days a 50% refund is offered up to 12 weeks before race day; within 12 weeks no refund is available.
