The Highlander, Backyard Ultra is a multi-day endurance event held at Murthly Castle Estate in Perthshire from 18 July 2026 to 20 July 2026. The event has a total of 200 places and the entry status is listed as open. Entry prices are shown as £98 (discounted) and £100 (standard); discounted pricing applies to members of ARC, EA or WA. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies to each sign-up.
Race format and entry terms
Runners repeat a measured loop of 4.167 miles and must finish each loop within one hour to be ready to begin the next loop. Any runner not finished within the time limit and not ready to start the next loop is disqualified. The event continues hourly until one runner remains; that final runner must complete a solo loop within the time limit to be declared the winner. All other competitors are recorded as DNF and will receive a finisher-style medal. Any competitor still in the race after 24 hours will receive a Rocket Events 100-mile medal. Runners may use a gazebo, shelter or aid station at the start/finish area; this facility is included in the entry fee. The organiser will send an information pack before the event covering registration, camping, first aid and toilets. Refund and withdrawal terms are stated, including a £15 administration charge within 30 days and varying refund percentages up to 12 weeks before the event.
