About the race
The event takes place June 26–27, 2027 at Riverside Farm in Pittsfield, Vermont. It offers two main race options: the standard 24-Hour Challenge and the Last Spartan Standing format.
The 24-Hour Challenge asks participants to complete as many loops of the marked course as they can within 24 hours. The Last Spartan Standing format requires each participant to complete a full ascent and descent of the Death Race Stone Stairs to Shrek’s Cabin every 45 minutes. Each loop is approximately 2 miles with about 970 feet of elevation gain. Anyone who fails to complete a loop within the 45 minute window, or who is not present at the start corral when the bell sounds, is eliminated from the Last Spartan Standing category.
If a participant is eliminated from Last Spartan Standing, they may continue in the standard 24-Hour Challenge. The Last Spartan Standing result remains a DNF, but continued participation allows eligibility for the 24-Hour Challenge finisher medal; podium placement in Last Spartan Standing is not possible after elimination. The final Last Spartan Standing winner is the last participant able to complete a loop when no one else can continue; that person must then complete one final solo loop to claim the title.
Key numbers from the event include 45 minutes per loop, approximately 970 feet of gain per loop, and up to 32 loops possible in 24 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
