Mt Solitary Ultra
The Mt Solitary Ultra, organised by Running Wild NSW, is a 45 km trail run in the Blue Mountains near Wentworth Falls on Sunday 26 April 2026. The course gains approximately 2515 m of elevation and circles the Jamison Valley, including a traverse of Mt Solitary and sections that overlap part of the UTA 100 km course.
Runners encounter a variety of terrain: fast downhill fire and single trails, steep and challenging uphill sections, stairs, rolling single trails, creek and river crossings, rock scrambling and areas of diverse native flora. The early part of the course is described as rugged, steep and technical. The route will be marked and key points will have course marshals, but participants should expect to be largely self sufficient and undertake some degree of self navigation.
Aid provision includes an aid station at about 25 km at Prince Henry Picnic Area and unmanned water at roughly 37 km. Aid stations carry emergency pads and tampons, hand sanitiser, rubbish and recycling bins and volunteers in contact with First Aid. There will be no cups at aid stations; runners must carry water and use their own collapsible cup or flask.
The event has qualifying standards, cut offs to ensure completion in daylight, a competitor limit and a limited early start option for up to 20 non competitive entrants who can demonstrate capability and self sufficient operation on remote terrain. Parking is available at the intersection of Tableland Road and Kings Tableland Road. Volunteer roles include aid station and course marshalling.
