MT Hearts Memorial 5K
The inaugural MT Hearts Memorial 5K takes place on June 19, 2027 at Citrus High School, 600 W. Highland Blvd, Inverness, FL 34452. The event includes in-person running and walking options plus virtual participation, and is held in memory of a longtime Citrus County resident, teacher, and athlete who died from metastatic breast cancer in 2026.
Event distances and formats include:
- 5K Run (3.1 Miles)
- 1 Mile Walk
- Virtual 5K and 1 Mile
- Kids Fun Run (free)
Registration opens on September 18, 2026 and closes on June 16, 2027. The registration fee is $30. Every registered participant receives an official event shirt and a custom finisher medal. Virtual participants will be mailed a T-shirt, bib number, and finisher medal after the event.
Proceeds from the event will support metastatic breast cancer research through METAvivor and provide assistance to students and families at Hernando Elementary School.
