About the race
MRT Last Runner Standing 1 Mile is held at the Statesville Soccer Complex, 2012 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625, US. The event uses a Last Runner Standing format of repeated one mile races where the required finishing time is reduced by 30 seconds each round. The first round requires finishing within 10 minutes, then 9:30, then 9:00, and so on until the last runner completes the challenge. In the event of a tie the winner is determined by total time.

Awards are presented nightly for overall, masters, and five year age groups. The event is part of the 2027 Championship Series. To be eligible for the Series Championship a participant must compete in at least 10 of 15 listed races. One additional point is earned for each race run beyond 10; completing all 15 races awards five additional points and a free race in 2028.
Points for series placings are specified: Overall 1st 12 points, 2nd 10, 3rd 9; Masters 1st 8, 2nd 7, 3rd 6; Age group 1st 5, 2nd 4, 3rd 3; all other participants 2 points. Prize money for the top 5 male and female Championship winners is listed as $60, $50, $40, $30, and $20. Registration fees shown are $17.00 for the main race and $10.00 for the Youth category.
