Event details
The Lake Norman State Park trail race takes place on Dec 6, 2025, at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC (759 State Park Road). The event offers two distances:
- 30K
- 50K
Registration closes on Dec 3, 2025. Participants who register by Nov 13 will receive a long-sleeved shirt. Space is limited. Packet pickup begins on race day.
Course and aid stations
Both races start in the field behind the Visitors Center and use a series of single-track loops completed in a clockwise direction, opposite the direction of bike traffic. The 30K route includes Laurel, Wildlife, Fallstown, and Fox loops and has about 1,500 feet of elevation gain. The 50K follows the 30K route then continues onto Hawk, Monbo, Norwood Creek, and Hicks Creek loops and has about 1,900 feet of elevation gain.
The 30K passes two aid stations; the 50K passes four aid stations. Aid stations will serve water, Mountain Dew, Coke, Ginger Ale, Tailwind, sandwiches, cookies, oranges, bananas, Hammer Gels, chips, and other snacks. Aid Station #1 is at the entrance/exit of Wildlife Loop (approximately mile 2.5 and mile 10.5 for all runners). Aid Station #2 is at the entrance/exit of Monbo Loop (approximately mile 18.4 and mile 24.5 for 50K runners).
Awards, photos, volunteers, and policies
All finishers who complete their selected event receive a finisher medal. Awards are given to 1st overall male and female and 1st male and female masters in each event. Course and finish-line photos will be taken and a link to photos will be emailed to registered runners the week after the race. Volunteers receive a free shirt; volunteers who work four hours or more receive a free entry for the following year. The event runs rain or shine. No refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals are allowed.
