Lake Norman State Park 30K & 50K Trail Race
This event on December 5, 2026 takes place at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC and is organized by Ultra Adventures Inc. The event offers two distance options:
- 30K course on single-track trails
- 50K course on single-track trails
Both courses use smooth-rolling single-track trails with no repeat loops and are run counterclockwise, opposite to bike traffic. The route starts and finishes in the field behind the Visitors Center and combines named loops within the park. Each course has approximately 1,600 feet of elevation gain.
Time limits and aid: both events have a nine-hour cut-off. The 30K passes two aid stations; the 50K passes four aid stations. Aid stations will offer water, soda, Tailwind, and food such as sandwiches, cookies, oranges, bananas, Hammer Gels, chips, and other snacks. Specific aid locations include an aid station at the entrance and exit of Wildlife Loop at about mile 6.3 and mile 14.3, a hydration station near mile 18.3 for 50K runners, and an aid station before Monbo Loop near mile 24.2.
Additional details: participants who register by November 6 will receive a long-sleeved shirt. Finishers receive a commemorative medal; awards are given for overall and masters places. Results will be posted to UltraSignUp and Ultrarunning Magazine. The event is rain or shine. No refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals are permitted. Camping is available at the state park and hotels in Statesville and Mooresville are about 20 minutes away. Registration closes Wednesday, December 2 at 11:59 PM ET.
