The route winds through the Ventura River Valley and finishes near the beach and historic Ventura Pier. The course description notes a gradual downhill profile over the first 22 miles to sea level and mentions it is a USATF-certified Boston Marathon qualifier.
The half marathon is also a point-to-point race starting in Oak View, roughly at the halfway point of the full marathon course. It follows a gently downhill route to the Ventura beachfront.
The 10k starts near Crooked Palm at approximately mile 20 of the marathon course. The Beachfront 5k starts near San Buenaventura State Beach Park and runs along an ocean-side bike path and promenade, passing the Ventura Pier. The Kids 1K Fun Run is a separate event.
