Course and community impact
The Half Marathon starts at the giant Santa along US 101 at Ventura Boulevard, passes through Oxnard strawberry fields, continues to historic downtown Oxnard (the Quarter Marathon start area), and finishes at Marine Emporium Landing in Channel Islands Harbor, where the 5K and Kids 1K also start and finish. A Finish Line Festival at the harbor features a kids play area, Santa’s Village, costume contests, food booths, and live entertainment.
The event began in 2003 as a toy drive and now combines running with community fundraising. It collects toys for underprivileged children in Ventura County and raises scholarship funds through the Santa to the Sea Scholarship Fund, which partners with Gene Haas and Oxnard College Foundation to award scholarships to local students.
