Mountain Sheep Canyon Run
The event takes place in Page, AZ on Navajo Nation land and offers two course options.
- 10 Mile
- 5K
The 10 Mile course is a loop over sand and through slot canyons of Mountain Sheep Canyon near Antelope Canyon. The route begins on double track, moves into single track through washes, follows ridges on dune and along mesa baseline, and includes a scramble down into a slot. Runners return via a downhill wash to the start and finish area. Total ascent and descent are about 850 feet. The course carries a medium hard effort rating. There are four hydration points with Tailwind Nutrition products and some snacks at one aid station. This is a cupless event, so participants must carry their own bottle or hydration pack.
The 5K uses a lollipop loop that starts on a sand double track, goes into a wash and Owl Canyon slot, then returns to the double track for the finish. It is rated easy to easy-medium and includes one water station located roughly at the halfway mark in the wash.
Although the event is on Navajo Nation, the schedule follows local Page, AZ time, which matches Phoenix, AZ. Bib pickup is at the start line on April 10 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on race morning from 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Registration closes April 5 at 11:59 PM MT.
