Mountain Peacock 50k
The Mountain Peacock 50k is a third annual trail running event in Golden, Colorado. The course covers about 50K and consists of four loops that visit South Table Mountain, North Table Mountain, Mount Galbraith, and Lookout Mountain. Each loop starts and ends at Parfet Park, which serves as the central hub and the sole aid station.
The event is organized in a self-supported, no-fee "fat ass" style. There are minimal course markings and no official chip timing. Runners use a Barkley-style verification system at each summit by locating a book and tearing out a page as proof of reaching the top.
Participants are expected to carry necessary supplies and navigation tools. The organizer requests that each entrant bring hydration (a gallon of water is suggested), a snack to share at the aid station, appropriate trail running gear, and any personal navigation aids such as map, compass, or GPS. Leave No Trace principles apply and runners should be prepared for changing mountain weather and limited on-course support.
