Mountain Man Ultra

The Mountain Man Ultra is a 50K trail race held in Waterville, Pennsylvania, on routes through Pine Creek Valley and Little Pine State Park. The course follows the former Call of the Wilds 50K route and uses familiar regional trails and climbs under a new event name and date.

The route begins with a short road climb before dropping onto the Mid State Trail, which becomes technical with rocky, off-camber, and constantly changing footing. The first half has little room to settle until a brief reset along Pine Creek Trail in Ramsey. The second half includes long climbs across Spiked Buck, Tiadaghton, and Pesto, with the Torbert climb around mile 26 and a final descent down Panther Run to the finish. The course includes roughly 7,500 feet of elevation gain spread over 50 kilometers.

This event is described as suited to experienced trail runners who are comfortable on steep, technical terrain and long climbs; it may feel overwhelming to those new to trail racing. Median finish time is about 7 hours 45 minutes, with most runners finishing between 6 and 10 hours. The race enforces an 11-hour cutoff. Aid station and swag details are listed as coming soon. Registration availability and pricing are provided through the event offers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
