Mountain Man Ultra
The Mountain Man Ultra is a 50K trail race held September 26, 2026 in Waterville, PA, at Little Pine State Park and surrounding trails. The event follows the same route as the former Call of the Wilds 50K under a new name and date.
The course begins in the dark with a short road climb before entering the Mid State Trail, where terrain becomes rocky, off-camber, and technically demanding. The first half offers few opportunities to settle in until a brief reset along Pine Creek Trail in Ramsey.
The back half features long climbs across Spiked Buck, Tiadaghton, and Pesto, with the Torbert climb at mile 26 and a final descent down Panther Run to the finish. The route includes roughly 7,500 feet of elevation gain packed into 50 kilometers.
The race is aimed at experienced trail runners who are comfortable on steep, technical terrain and sustained climbs; runners new to trail racing are likely to find the course overwhelming. Median finish time is around 7 hours 45 minutes, with most runners finishing between 6 and 10 hours. There is an 11 hour cutoff.
