Mountain Man Triathlon - Sprint & Olympic

The Mountain Man Triathlon is a local triathlon event held at Lake Mary in Flagstaff. It began in 1984 and is one of the longer-running triathlons in the western United States. The event features both Sprint and Olympic distance races.

The course passes near the San Francisco Peaks, Lake Mary, and Mormon Lake, and takes place during Flagstaff summer conditions that are described as cool, clean, and green with flora in bloom. Organizers present the race as having a hometown atmosphere.

All finishers receive medals and t-shirts. The event also includes awards and on-site food. Timing is provided using RFID timing systems; each participant wears a timing chip around the ankle with a Velcro strap. Chips are reusable and must be returned after the event. Missing chips are the responsibility of the athlete and may be charged.

Timing services for the event are provided by 4 Peaks Racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
