Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff Dave McKay Memorial Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk
The event takes place on August 8, 2026 in Flagstaff, Arizona and marks the 49th annual running of this race. It is presented as Flagstaff's oldest race and the second oldest half marathon in Arizona. All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff mentoring programs.
Distances offered include:
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles
- 5K Fun Run - 5K
- Kid's Dash - 1K
The course starts at Thorpe Park and climbs onto Observatory Mesa, then follows dirt roads with views of the San Francisco Peaks. Elevation on the half marathon ranges from about 6,957 ft at the start to about 7,731 ft near mile 7.5, with most climbing occurring in the first 1.25 miles. The 5K also takes place on Observatory Mesa. The event is described as walker-friendly; walkers on the half marathon receive a chip time and finisher's medal but are not eligible for age division awards.
Half marathon participants receive a commemorative finisher's medal similar to the prior year's design. Half and 5K participants receive a Sweatvac Hi-Tech long-sleeved shirt, free digital race photos, and admission to a free pre-race pizza party on August 7 located in the party room behind the 4th Street restaurant at 2120 N Fourth Street. Kid's Dash participants receive a medal.
