Mountain Madness 50 Mile : Vernal, Utah
Mountain Madness is a 50 mile relay event held in Vernal, Utah that follows a course through Ashley National Forest. The format allows participation as a solo ultra runner or in relay teams of 2, 4, or 8 members. The run begins at the Red Cloud loop turnoff and finishes at Remember the Maine Park.
The route is supported by HAM radio operators and porta potties placed along the course. Runners may use a support vehicle to carry water, supplies, and snacks; there are no formal aid stations on the course. The event is described as a Ragnar-style relay over the full 50 mile distance.
Packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, August 14 at the Uintah Recreation Center, with additional pickup available on the morning of the race at the starting area. For a guaranteed event shirt, registration must be completed by July 30.
