Marsh Peak Madness
Marsh Peak Madness is a trail running event held in Lapoint, UT, at the Middle Mountain Corral trail head. The course is a single 5 mile loop with an elevation gain of 1,244 ft and views toward Marsh Peak, Lake Mountain, Dry Fork Canyon, and the high mountain meadows around Gull Lake in the Uintah Mountains. The route passes areas of spring wildflowers and foliage.
Several aid and water stations are placed throughout the course. The event is organized by Mad Man Races and is located near the city of Vernal.
The event format includes both endurance and speed options. For endurance events, participants register for either a 6 hour or a 12 hour time limit and complete as many full loops as they can within that time; any loop not completed before the time limit does not count. The speed event is a single loop where the first runner to complete the loop wins. Course record benchmarks include an 8 loop 12 hour result (40 miles), a 4 loop 6 hour result (20 miles), and 5 mile speed times of 53:14 for the fastest recorded male and 57:36 for the fastest recorded female. Cash prizes are listed for each event category.
