Marsh Peak Madness
Marsh Peak Madness is an endurance and speed running event held at the Middle Mountain Corral Trail Head near Lapoint, UT. The course is a 5 mile trail loop around Gull Lake in the Uintah Mountains with views of Marsh Peak and Lake Mountain and high mountain meadows with spring wildflowers. Several aid and water stations are located along the course. The venue is a short drive from Vernal.
The event offers two formats. The endurance format has two time limits, 6 hour and 12 hour, in which participants complete as many full loops as they can; loops not finished before the time limit do not count. The speed run is a single 5 mile loop in which the first runner to finish the loop wins.
Course details note an elevation gain of 1,244 ft over the 5 mile loop. Cash prizes are awarded whenever a new course record is set; listed amounts are USD 100 for the 12 hour event, USD 50 for the 6 hour event, and USD 25 for the 5 mile speed run. The event is organized by Mad Man Races and registration is offered through the event listing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
