30th Annual Mosquito Lake Chase
The Mosquito Lake Chase returns for its 30th edition on Memorial Day in Cortland, Ohio. This community event stages its operations at Maplewood High School, located just east of Mecca Circle on Route 88. The gathering features two distinct distances for participants:
- 5K running race
- 1 Mile fun run and walk
Proceeds from the event support the Oscar Grant Scholarship Fund alongside various Maplewood Running Rockets activities. The scholarship honors a local teacher, coach, and veteran. Participants who register early are eligible for a reduced entry fee compared to day-of-race registration. The first 100 individuals to register are guaranteed an event shirt.
Competition in the 5K includes prize money for the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, awards are provided for the top three finishers in the 5K and the first-place finisher in the 1 Mile across several age categories. These categories span from 14 and under to participants aged 60 and over. Packet pick-up and registration services are available on-site at the high school on the morning of the event.
