Event Overview
The MoRun York event takes place at York Racecourse. It features four race distances: a 1.5 km Mini MoRun, a 5 km run, a 10 km run, and a Half Marathon. The Half Marathon distance consists of four laps plus an extra 1.1 km section of the course.
Course Details
The route starts on a pathway before moving onto grass terrain. It is described as mainly flat with one incline and some uneven ground, which can become muddy after rain. The course is not suitable for wheelchair users, but off-road running buggies are permitted depending on ground conditions. Participants should note there are two road crossings on the route. The 5 km event is one lap, the 10 km event is two laps, and the Half Marathon involves four laps.
Participation and Format
All events are fully chip-timed, with instant results provided. A finisher's medal and a branded headband are given to every participant. Additional "Mo Medals" are awarded for categories such as fastest runner and best costume. The event includes a fancy dress competition before the runs. Water and snacks are provided at the finish line. The event supports the Movember charity, which focuses on men's health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health. Participants are given the option to donate or fundraise for the charity.
Practical Information
Registration on the day opens at 8:00 AM and closes 10 minutes before each race start. Race start times are: Half Marathon at 9:30 AM, 5 km and 10 km at 10:00 AM, and the Mini MoRun at 11:45 AM. Parking at the racecourse is limited. There are toilet facilities on site, as well as a manned bag storage area with limited space. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
