Event overview

The York 5K is a monthly 5 kilometre road race held at the University of York Sport Village Cycle Circuit from February to November. The course is flat and run over five laps of the circuit. The race is chip-timed and results are published on Power of 10; kilometre splits are published the day after the race and finish-line results are sent by text.

Course and facilities

The course is on road and is suitable for wheelchairs. On-course and venue facilities include water stations, distance markers and toilets. There are no changing facilities, no showers and no baggage store. Race headquarters is at University of York Sport Village, Cycle Circuit, Heslington East, Lakeside Way, York, YO10 5FG.

Entry and fees

Entry is available online only; online entry closes at 10:00 on race day and entry on the day is not available. Entry fees shown include race fees, card charges and admin. Single race fees are £10 (affiliated) and £12 (unaffiliated). A season Race Pass (April to November) is available for £57 (affiliated) and £69 (unaffiliated). Entry is limited to 200 places.

Numbers, deferral and refunds

First-time entrants are issued a race number with an embedded timing chip and collect this from Registration. Previously issued red 5K numbers may be reused if recorded on the entry form. Entrants may defer their place once to the next race in the calendar year if requested at least three days before race day. No refunds and no transfer of race places are permitted. Subsequent race number replacements are charged at £4 after one free replacement in a 12 month period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
