Event Overview
The Cardiff MoRun is a running event held in support of the Movember charity, which focuses on men's health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health. The event takes place at Bute Park, Coopers Field in Cardiff.
Distances and Schedule
Participants can register for one of four race distances:
- 1.5 km Mini MoRun
- 5 km MoRun
- 10 km MoRun
- Half Marathon MoRun All races are held on a Sunday in November. The Half Marathon starts first, followed by the 5 km and 10 km races, and finally the 1.5 km Mini MoRun.
Course and Location
The event is held in Bute Park, specifically in Coopers Field near the city end of the park and the summerhouse cafe. The course is described as mainly on tarmac paths and is flat. The route is dog-friendly, suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. The 5 km is one lap, the 10 km is two laps, and the half marathon includes an initial loop followed by four full laps.
Registration and Participation
Registration opens in the summer for early bird entries and closes on a specified date in October. Participants must collect their race pack on the day, which includes a race number with timing chip, safety pins, and a finisher's headband. All races are chip-timed, with instant results available after finishing.
Event Features
All finishers receive a medal and a headband. Water and snacks are provided at the finish line. Bonus medals are awarded for categories like fastest male and female runner, and best dressed. A fancy dress competition takes place before the main runs. There is no parking within Bute Park; public parking and park-and-ride services are available nearby.
