Morning Star's Run for Shelter 5K
Morning Star Christian Fellowship is organizing the 6th annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, October 24, 2026, with proceeds supporting local homeless shelters and the Transformation Life Center. The event is a community 5K that welcomes runners and walkers.
The course runs through the neighborhood between East Chester and Foxhall Streets, follows Clifton Avenue with hills on both sides, and passes twice through Hutton Park. The route includes a scenic view of the Catskills. Start and finish are at the Morning Star building, corner of East Chester and Highland (79-83 East Chester) in Kingston.
Awards and prizes will be presented. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants. Entry fees are $25 for adults (19+) and $15 for youth (18 and under); additional donations are optional. The discounted youth rate is applied automatically at checkout. Last-minute in-person registration is available the morning of the event between 8:00 and 8:45 am.
A virtual option is offered for participants who cannot attend in person; the virtual 5K may be completed on the event course or any 5K route between October 17 and October 24. This event is Race number 9 in the Onteora Runners' Club Grand Prix series for 2026; Grand Prix participants are required to run the in-person race.
