Mormond Hill Run 2026
The Mormond Hill Run takes place on 16 August 2026 and marks its tenth anniversary. The route starts from the Ritchie Hall playing field in Strichen and covers a total distance of 5.6 miles (9k) with approximately 600 ft of ascent. The course passes across Mormond Hill with views of the Buchan countryside and, from the summit, sights described as ranging from the sea to Bennachie.
All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Awards include an overall winners trophy, a first local trophy for a Strichen address, a first under 18 trophy, first and second male and female placings, and age category prizes subject to entry numbers. The listed sponsor is Pie Aroma.
Entries are priced at £15 online and may be available on the day at £20 if places remain. Refunds are not available and exchanges are handled at the organiser’s discretion. The event has a total of 100 places.
Safety and logistics notes: there is one water station at Hunters Lodge near the top of the hill. Finishers receive a bottle of water and further refreshments such as teas and baked items will be available for donation to Ritchie Hall funds; spectators may use refreshments for a donation. Parking is available at Ritchie Hall free of charge but may be restricted. Changing and toilet facilities are available at the start and finish. Marshals will be positioned on the route for safety and guidance.
Age and accompaniment rules: runners under 16 require parental or guardian consent. Runners under 14 must be accompanied by a fully paid adult entrant and have prior organiser consent; on the day entry for under 14 participants is considered individually and requires organiser contact with full details.
