Mormond Hill Run 2026 - event details
The Mormond Hill Run returns for its 10th anniversary on 16 August 2026. The course covers approximately 5.6 miles (9 km) with about 600 ft of ascent. The route starts from the Ritchie Hall playing field and passes across Mormond Hill, offering views of the Buchan countryside; from the summit there are views from the sea to Bennachie.
Prizes are awarded across a range of categories. All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Trophies include overall winners, a first local trophy for Strichen, a first under 18 trophy, and first and second prizes for male and female finishers. Age category prizes will depend on entry numbers and would be awarded to the first male and female in each category. Prizes are supported by a named sponsor.
Event services and facilities listed by the organiser include one water station at Hunters Lodge near the top of the hill, a finishers bottle of water, and additional refreshments such as teas and baked items available for donations to Ritchie Hall funds. Spectators may also purchase refreshments for a donation. Parking is available at Ritchie Hall free of charge though space may be limited. Changing and toilet facilities are available at the start and finish. Marshals will be positioned at strategic locations for safety and course guidance.
Entry information provided by the organiser: entry fee is £15, on the day entries may be available and would rise to £20, no refunds, and exchanges are at the organiser's discretion. Participants under 16 require parental or guardian consent. Runners under 14 must be accompanied by a fully paid adult entrant and have prior organiser consent; on the day admission for under 14s will be considered individually.
