Morland 'Marathon'
The Morland 'Marathon' is a 30 mile trail ultra held in Cumbria on Saturday 6 March 2027. The route is fully tracked, largely off road, and covers approximately 3000 ft of ascent across mixed terrain through the Eden Valley and the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The course starts and finishes in the village of Morland near Penrith and follows paths that run close to the Pennines to the east and the Howgills to the south. The route passes stone circles, waterfalls, lower lying fells, cairns, rivers, meadows, and historic villages. A GPX file is provided though the route may be subject to minor changes before the event.
There are four checkpoints offering water and snacks, and the event uses an inclusive 12 hour cut off with tail runners in place. First aid is available on the day and the race holds permit ARC/26/0008. Parking is available at the event location and a kit list is supplied to entrants.
Entries include a finishers medal; options include an affiliated entry fee, a relay entry, a purchasable finishers tee, and an option to contribute to tree planting through Trees Not Tees. Walkers aged over 20 are allowed provided they can complete the course within the cut off. Dogs and support runners are permitted under the stated conditions.
