Moove Your Hooves 5k : Davis, California
Moove Your Hooves 5k is a community road race organized by the UC Davis Cross Country and Track and Field club. The event functions as the club's signature fundraiser and sends proceeds to the club's general fund to help cover dues, uniforms, and travel expenses.
The course is a scenic 5 km route through sections of the UC Davis campus. The layout is an out and back that begins at the Woody Wilson Track, winds next to the arboretum, reaches a halfway point, and returns to the track. A course map is provided by the organizers.
Racers start in two waves. Community participants start in Wave 1 and receive a two minute head start over Wave 2. Wave 2 is composed of club members who dress as "cows." Prizes are awarded both for beating the club wave and by age category, with items commonly supplied by local sponsors such as Fleet Feet Sports and Davis Creamery. Local businesses named as past prize contributors include Davis Creamery and Woodstock's.
After the race, the event offers food and beverages for participants, including fruit, treats, and recovery snacks. Registration categories listed for the event include standard 5K entry, 5K entry with donation, and 5K entry with shirt.
