About the Race
The Moose Mountain Trail Races (MMTR) offer four solo mountain trail distances: 16 km, 29 km, 42 km, and 50 km. It is Alberta's oldest sanctioned trail race. The event takes place on one of the original trail systems within Kananaskis Country.
The race starts and finishes at the West Bragg Creek recreational day-use area. The course travels along forested trails with Moose Mountain as a backdrop. Runners traverse over 150 km of community-built trails.
Distances & Course
The available distances are:
- 16 km - Elevation gain: 460 meters. Trail type: 75% single track. Aid station at 8 km. Finish line cut-off: 3:30 PM.
- 29 km - Elevation gain: 1220 meters. Trail type: 50% single track and 50% double track. Aid available at 9 km and 20 km. Cut-off at the 20 km aid station: 1:00 PM.
- 42 km - Elevation gain: 1620 meters. Trail type: 50% single track and 50% double track. Aid available at 9 km, 20 km, 27 km, and 33 km. Cut-offs at the 20 km (1:00 PM) and 27 km (2:00 PM) aid stations.
- 50 km - Elevation gain: 2351 meters. Trail type: 50% single track and 50% double track. Aid available at 9 km, 22 km, 36 km, and 42 km. Cut-offs at the 22 km (1:00 PM) and 36 km (2:00 PM) aid stations.
Practical Information
Registration costs $145 CAD. Participants must be 18 years of age or older on race day. Bibs are transferable (except for the 50 km distance) until August 10, 2026 at 8:00 AM for an administration fee. No refunds are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
