Event overview
The Kananaskis 100 Mile Relay is a team relay running event covering 100 miles in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. The course begins near Longview, travels the Highwood Pass on what the organizer describes as the highest paved highway in Canada, and finishes in the Kananaskis area. The event includes a post-race meal and festivities at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge and provides race-day morning coffee and snacks in Longview. Entry includes a T-shirt and access to the post-race experience at the Pomeroy.
Course, entry and safety requirements
The race is limited to 60 teams and uses tiered pricing with entry on a first-come, first-served basis. Teams register a captain initially; full roster registration takes place later (instructions are sent in May 2026). Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable; participants may purchase cancellation insurance during registration. The organizer enforces forced starts for slower teams to help complete the course within a daylight window; teams with predicted overall time over 16 hours may be subject to simultaneous forced starts. Parks requires runners to carry bear spray from the beginning of leg 3 to the finish; teams may pass a single can between runners except when forced starts prevent handoff, in which case additional cans are required.
