MOORE Equity in Mental Health 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll
The American Psychiatric Association and the APA Foundation present an event on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC. The program includes an in person 5K Run and an in person 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll, plus remote options for a 5K Run and a 1 Mile Fun Walk & Roll held in participants' home communities.
The in person event is held rain or shine unless weather conditions are unsafe. Registration details vary by entry type: the in person 5K has a registration fee of $35, the in person 1 Mile events are free, and the remote events are free. Registration periods begin on April 1, 2026 and close on different dates depending on the selected entry.
Awards will be presented to in person 5K runners finishing first, second, and third across divisions. Random drawing winners will be announced after the awards presentation. Registration and packet pickup are available on event day to collect bibs and enter the random prize drawing.
Public transportation is encouraged because street parking near Freedom Plaza might be limited. Nearby transit options include Federal Triangle and Metro Center stations, a Metrobus stop at 14th St NW and Pennsylvania Ave NW, and multiple Capital Bikeshare docking stations. Funds raised support the APA/APAF MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program, which funds community organizations serving young people.
