2026 Fireworks 5k & 10k
The event takes place on July 4 at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA. It offers timed distance races on a combination paved road and trail course that uses park trails and short paved sections near the start and finish.
Distances
- 5k on a combination of paved road and trail.
- 10k on the same mixed paved and trail course with three water stations.
The trail surface includes some roots but is fairly well maintained without major elevation gains. Water stations: the 10k has three stations at approximately miles 0.5, 3.1 and 5.7; the 5k has two stations at approximately miles 0.5 and 2.6. Gatorade will be available at some water stations. Restrooms are located by the ice cream parlor. Parking is within the park near the mini golf course.
Points from the event count toward the Year‑Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series and toward the Summer Series. A virtual race option is available. Walkers are welcome.
Participants receive a finisher medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. T shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before June 24. Registration fees listed for early and later signups include 5k and 10k price tiers. Final live results are posted online and a QR code will allow immediate race-day access. Photos taken by staff are posted the Tuesday after the event. Awards include top three men and women overall and first and second in standard age groups.
