Montpelier Mile
The Montpelier Mile is a one mile road race held on July 3rd as part of Montpelier's Independence Day celebration. The course runs through historic downtown Montpelier, beginning on State Street in front of M&T Bank and the Vermont History Museum, continuing to the Main Street rotary and returning to the start area. The event is followed by the city parade and fireworks.
The race is open to all ages and encourages children to participate. Pre registration through July 1st is priced by age category: $20 adults, $20 adults with stroller, $15 juniors (14 to 17), $10 youth (10 to 13), and $5 for kids 9 and under. Day of registration prices are higher in each category. Day of registration and bib pickup take place at the Onion River Outdoors tent in front of M&T Bank at 112 State Street in Montpelier.
Prize awards include a Dash for Cash of $50, cash for the top three adult finishers in each gender category with first place at $100, second at $75, and third at $50, and gift cards for the top three in junior, youth, and kids divisions. A $50 bonus is available for breaking the course record. Current course record times stand at female 5:00, male 4:18.7, and non binary 5:37.5.
