Montessori Mavericks Pumpkin Run
The Montessori Mavericks Pumpkin Run is a community athletics event organized by the Montessori School of Florence. The event features two distinct participation options for runners and walkers:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed race starting and finishing at the school grounds.
- Pumpkin Run: A family-style fun run without competitive awards.
The 5K course leads participants through the streets surrounding the school and Timrod Park. The route includes segments on Warley Street, Cedar Street, Franklin Drive, and Wannamaker Avenue. Runners enter the Timrod Park trail before Cherokee Road, crossing the bridge near the tennis and pickleball courts before returning toward the finish line via Spruce, McQueen, and Jerome Streets.
The event accommodates various participants, as strollers and wheelchairs are permitted on the course. While music and headphones are allowed, pets are not permitted at the event. Parking is available at the school location, where participants are directed by signage and volunteers.
Proceeds from the registration fees support the Montessori School of Florence. Following the completion of the races, the school hosts its third annual Chili Cook-Off.
