Monsters Run The River
Monsters Run The River is a fall road race held in downtown Westbrook, Maine, with activities centered at Riverbank Park, 677 Main Street. The event includes multiple race options that start and finish in Riverbank Park and follow a route along the Presumpscot River and the River Walk.
The event features:
- 5K Road Race
- Canine 5K
- Kids Fun Run 1K - free for ages 12 and under, no registration needed
The 5K route winds through downtown Westbrook, crosses the Presumpscot River on a pedestrian bridge, passes through neighborhoods north of the river, then returns south to cross the river again and finish at Riverbank Park. The Fun Run 1K backtracks along the River Walk toward Cumberland Street before returning to the finish area. The Canine 5K begins shortly before the main 5K start.
The race uses official timing and posts results online after the event. Awards will be given for top finishers and for notable costumes, and organizers will coordinate with winners who cannot remain to receive awards in person. Packet pickup is scheduled a few days before the race, with bib pickup planned for the evening of Friday, October 23 in downtown Westbrook.
Monsters Run The River benefits Discover Downtown Westbrook, a nationally accredited Main Street community that supports downtown revitalization and events.
