Monkey Butt Mayhem
Monkey Butt Mayhem is a timed trail event held on the Cross Timbers Hiking Trail near the Juniper Point West trailhead in Gordonville, Texas on April 25, 2026. The event is limited to 60 entrants and includes entrant items and finisher recognition.
The course centers on Monkey Butt Hill, a steep, technical climb of about 0.1 mile with roughly 100 feet of elevation gain, approximately a 20 percent grade. The hill is on a 1/3 mile loop that features roots and boulders; the race is run counter-clockwise so participants ascend the steeper section and descend a more gradual, less technical return. A cookie only aid station is provided on course.
Distances and formats
- 3 hours of timed hill repeats on the 1/3 mile loop
- 6 hours of timed hill repeats on the 1/3 mile loop
- 5 mile out and back on single track along the Lake Texoma shoreline
Each completed loop equals 100 feet of vertical gain. Participants receive a custom BOCO running trucker hat and can earn commemorative patches tied to vertical gain milestones that can be heat transferred to the hat or other items. A finisher medal features the event logo. The 6 hour course record stands at 73 repeats, equivalent to 24 miles and about 7,300 feet of elevation gain. Crewing is possible with access roughly every 1/3 mile and spectator areas near the water. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
