Moffat Festival of Running 2026
The event centres on a main 15 km (9.3 mile) multi-terrain race organised under UK Athletics rules and held with an SAF permit. The route starts with about 3.75 miles of undulating running with a gradual rise of roughly 350 feet, followed by just under one mile of steep, stony and uneven track rising about 550 feet. After the climb there is a 4.6 mile descent back into Moffat on the A701. Mile markers are provided and drinks, sponges and first aid are available at around 3, 5 and 8 miles.
Prizes are awarded in open and local categories across men, women and veteran age groups; local eligibility is decided by the organisers. A course record of 47:25 (1989) and a ladies record of 54:20 (1985) are noted. Entry fees are listed with an early price of £14 and a normal price of £16; a £3 levy applies for non ScottishAthletics members. The main race minimum age is 17 years. No substitute entries or refunds are permitted. Optional technical t-shirts are offered and all finishers receive a memento.
Junior events include a 2.3 mile loop for under 17s (minimum age 12), a 1.4 mile loop for under 12s (minimum age 5), and a tots dash for under 5s on a closed section of the High Street with no preregistration or fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
