Gelston 5 Mile Road Race
The Gelston 5 Mile Road Race takes place on 16 July 2026 and is organised by Dumfries Running Club as part of Castle Douglas Civic Week. The certified five-mile course runs through quiet, undulating country roads and passes through the village of Gelston just outside Castle Douglas. The route begins at Lochside Park and, after an uphill section, leads to a downhill finish beside Carlingwark Loch.
Entry fees are shown as £8 and £10 for unaffiliated entrants. The minimum age on race day for juniors is 14 years. Entry closes on 15 July 2026. The event is listed as a Scottish Athletics Permit Event and is run under UK Athletics rules; permit approval is pending.
Under UK Athletics rules, standard headphones are not allowed. Only bone-conducting type headphones may be used to listen to music. Entrants must declare amateur status in line with UKA/SAF rules and accept the organiser's liability statement regarding accidents, injury, loss or damage arising from participation.
