Gelston 5 Mile Road Race
The Gelston 5 Mile Road Race, organised by Dumfries Running Club, takes place on 16 July 2026 as part of Castle Douglas Civic Week. The certified five mile route runs on quiet, undulating country roads, passes through the village of Gelston just outside Castle Douglas and finishes at Carlingwark Loch. The start location is Lochside Park.
Entry fees are stated as £8 and £10 for unaffiliated runners. The minimum junior age on race day is 14 years. Entries close on 15 July 2026.
The event is promoted as a Scottish Athletics Permit Event run under UK Athletics rules; permit approval is pending. Under UKA rules the use of standard headphones for listening to music is not allowed; only bone conducting type headphones are permitted.
