Gelston 5 Mile Road Race

The Gelston 5 Mile Road Race is organised by Dumfries Running Club and takes place on 15 July 2026 at Dumfries sports club in Great Britain. The event is part of Castle Douglas Civic Week and uses a certified five-mile route that winds through quiet, undulating country roads and passes through the village of Gelston just outside Castle Douglas. After an uphill section the course finishes with a downhill approach to Carlingwark Loch.

Registration opens on 1 February 2026 at 12:00. Entry fees are listed as £6 and £8 for unaffiliated runners; additional transaction fees may apply. This is a Scottish Athletics Permit Event run under UK Athletics rules, with permit approval pending.

Under UK Athletics rules, standard headphones and the use of music devices are not allowed; only bone-conducting type headphones may be used if permitted. Entrants are required to accept event terms, including a declaration of amateur status under governing-body rules and an agreement that the organisers are not liable for accident, injury, loss, or damage resulting from participation. Event results may include and publish personal information such as name, club affiliation, race times, occupation, and age category, and may be shared with governing bodies for insurance, licensing, or results publication.
