Modesto Memorial Classic
The Modesto Memorial Classic is an annual running and walking event held at East La Loma Park in Modesto, California. The event is organized by the ShadowChase Running Club and serves to honor and benefit veterans, with proceeds supporting the Delta Vet Center. The routes consist of scenic, shady loops that are accessible to both runners and walkers.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different ages and participation goals:
- 5 km run/walk
- 1 mile run/walk
- Kids Fun Run (for children ages 10 and under)
All participants in the 5 km and 1 mile events receive participant medals. Trophies are awarded to the overall male and female finishers in both the 5 km and 1 mile races. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a technical shirt.
The event includes a brief ceremony to honor American veterans. Participants with paid entries also receive a pancake breakfast provided by the Delta Vet Center. The Kids Fun Run is a free activity, with registration available on the day of the event. Packet pick-up is typically held on the Friday preceding the race at the ShadowChase office on 11th Street.
