About the race
Moccasin Ultra Fest is a 36 hour timed trail event held from December 31 to January 1 at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead in Memphis, TN. The course is a fast, flat loop of four miles on the Wolf River Trails that athletes repeat as many times as they choose during the 36 hour timeframe. The official mileage equals the last completed loop recorded on the results board when the time limit ends.
Awards and event items are tied to distance completed. Every participant receives a Bella Canvas fleece style hoodie. Distance awards include a finisher medal for one loop (4 miles), a 52+ mile buckle for 13 loops (about 52 miles), a 100 mile buckle for 25 loops, and an exclusive sub 24 hour 100 mile buckle for any 100 mile finish under 24 hours. The top male and top female with the most miles each receive a $500 cash prize.
One fully manned aid station is located at the start and finish area and is set up as a help yourself station with food, hot items, coffee, heaters, chairs, and blankets. Runners must supply any special dietary nutrition or hydration needs. Professional photography is provided and free for runners to download. Race rules note no pacers, trekking poles allowed, no stashing supplies on course, and that receiving IV fluids, oxygen, or a serious injury ends a participant’s race.
