Event Overview
The Miocene Epic Endurance Challenge is a 6-hour trail race taking place at Calvert Cliffs State Park in Lusby, Maryland. The course consists of a loop of approximately 5 miles along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.
Course and Format
The event uses a loop format. Runners will begin at the picnic pavilion and have up to 6 hours to complete as many loops as they choose. The course is described as well-marked.
Participant Amenities
All participants receive a premium item and a swag bag. There is a fully stocked aid station available after each loop, offering food and drinks. A hot post-run meal is provided. Runners completing 50 kilometers or more receive a trilobite-shaped medal.
Podium awards are given to the top three men and women in the 6-hour open category, with additional age group awards. There is space for participants to set up a personal rest area with tents, chairs, or coolers.
Logistics
Parking is available within Calvert Cliffs State Park. All runners are responsible for paying the park entry fee, which is $5 for Maryland residents and $7 for non-residents. The park opens at dawn.
Virtual and Cancellation Policy
A virtual participation option is available, with swag shipped to the participant at no extra cost. If the in-person event is canceled, all participants will be moved to the virtual event with no refunds provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
