Event Overview
The Miller Park Zoo Stampede is an annual running and walking event held in Bloomington, Illinois. The course takes participants through historic Miller Park, the surrounding local neighborhood, and the Miller Park Zoo itself. The event includes three distinct distances:
- 5K (USATF Certified course)
- 3K Walk (not timed)
- Kids 1/4 Mile Fun Run (open to children ages 10 and under)
Proceeds from the event support the Zoological Society, which funds animal care, visitor experience improvements, and global conservation initiatives. Every participant across all events receives a race bib. Shirt and bib pickup is available on the Friday afternoon before the race or on the morning of the event at the Miller Park Pavilion.
Post-Race Activities and Recognition
Following the completion of the distances, participants gather at the Miller Park Pavilion for snacks, beverages, and an award ceremony. The Children's Fun Run participants are invited to an after-party on the second story of the pavilion, which includes participation awards and a special animal encounter.
Awards for the 5K race are presented to the top male and female overall finishers. Additionally, the top three male and female finishers are recognized in specific age categories, including 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
