Event Overview
The Miller Park Zoo Stampede is a running and walking event taking place on Saturday, March 7, 2026. It offers three events: a timed 5K run, a non-timed 3K walk, and a Kids 1/4 Mile Fun Run for children 10 years and under. The event is held to support the Miller Park Zoo, with proceeds going towards a new habitat for the zoo's Southern Ground Hornbills.
Location and Venue
All events start and finish at the Miller Park Pavilion in Bloomington, Illinois. The courses go through historic Miller Park, the surrounding neighborhood, and the Miller Park Zoo grounds. The 5K course is USATF certified.
Post-Race Activities
After the races, there are separate gatherings for participants. Following the Kids Fun Run, an after-party on the pavilion's second story includes an animal encounter, participation awards, snacks, and beverages. After the 5K and 3K events, refreshments and an award ceremony are held on the pavilion's main floor. Awards are given to 5K participants for top overall male and female finishers, and to the top three male and female finishers in multiple age groups.
