Event Overview
The Milford Campus Bridgeport Hospital Mother's Day 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held on Mother's Day. The 2026 edition takes place on May 10. The event has been hosted for over thirty years to promote wellness and health, with proceeds supporting a new family waiting room for the Same Day Joint Replacement Surgery Center at the hospital's Milford Campus. Participation is limited to 650 people.
Events
The event offers several options:
- 5K Run and Walk: A chip-timed event. Participants must complete the entire distance to be timed and eligible for awards. Separate registrations exist for ages 19 and over, and 18 and under.
- 3K Fitness Walk: An untimed walking event, approximately 1.8 miles long. Separate registrations exist for ages 19 and over, and 18 and under.
- Kids Fun Run: A free, non-competitive run of 1/10 mile for children 10 years and under, held before the main events.
All events begin and end at the Milford Campus of Bridgeport Hospital, located at 300 Seaside Avenue in Milford, Connecticut.
Course and Safety
The 5K and 3K courses share the same start point. The 3K route splits off and later rejoins the 5K course along the water at Fort Trumbull. Both courses are described as flat and scenic, are accurately measured, and are well-marked with mile splits. Participants in the 3K are asked to stay on sidewalks for safety. Police and volunteers will be present.
Fees and Registration
Registration fees are tiered based on date and age. Fees for adults (19 and over) increase from $35 to $45 between February and May. Youth (18 and under) fees are $20. The Kids Fun Run is free but requires pre-registration. Early registration is encouraged as the event was nearly sold out the previous year.
Awards and Perks
Awards are given to timed 5K participants only. These include overall male and female champions, as well as age group awards from 9 and under through 80+. Youth age groups (18 and under) receive medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Special awards are given for mother/son and mother/daughter teams. All 5K and 3K participants receive a race t-shirt, with size guaranteed if registered by April 26. Race bibs can be used for a discount at a local running store through May 31.
Logistics
Early bib and t-shirt pickup is available on the Friday and Saturday before the event outside the front of Milford Hospital. On event day, bib pickup and late registration (if available) occur before the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
