Miles for the Future 5K
Miles for the Future is a 5K run organized by Nu Chi Chi Chapter Inc. of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. The event supports nursing scholarships and community outreach and is presented by an organization founded in Westchester, New York, with a mission of Service for Humanity focused on nursing education, scholarships and community health initiatives.
The course takes place in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, near the tortoise and hare statue across the street from Lloyd’s Carrot Cake at 6087 Broadway. Registration for the listed edition is not yet open. Race day registration and check in are located near the tortoise and hare statue.
Amenities include medals for all finishers, a participant shirt for registrants, refreshments, live text and email results, free finish line photos and same-day finish line video. Registrants who register three weeks in advance receive a personalized bib. Last-minute registrants within 24 hours receive their bib number by text within 90 seconds. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers.
The course description notes a start north of the finish on the cricket field, a counter-clockwise loop on the John Muir Trail, a right onto the John Kieran Nature Trail, a left before Park Lake outflow, continuation onto Old Putnam Trail, a U-turn past Mosholu Parkway and a return to the John Kieran Nature Trail finishing on the cricket field.
