Miles for the Future 5K
Miles for the Future is a 5K community road and trail event held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Registration is not yet open and will open ahead of the event. Race day registration and check in are located near the tortoise and hare statue across from 6087 Broadway.
Amenities include medals to all finishers, a shirt for registrants, refreshments, live/text/email results, free finish line photos, and a personalized bib for those registered at least three weeks in advance. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers.
Bibs are distributed by event staff starting one hour before the event; a bib number is required for pickup. Last-minute registrants within 24 hours will receive their bib number by text within about 90 seconds.
The course starts just north of the finish line on the cricket field, follows the John Muir Trail counter-clockwise, turns right onto the John Kieran Nature Trail, then left before the Park Lake outflow. The route continues on John Kieran into Old Putnam Trail, includes a U-turn past Mosholu Parkway, and reconnects with the John Kieran Nature Trail before returning to the cricket field.
The event supports nursing scholarships and community outreach and is organized by Nu Chi Chi Chapter Inc. of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., an organization founded in 2015 that advances nursing through education, scholarships and community outreach promoting health and wellness.
