Miles for Meso 5K Run/Walk - Federal Way, WA
The Miles for Meso WA Memorial 5K Run/Walk returns for its eleventh year in Federal Way, Washington on July 4. The event is held in memory of Washington residents who lost their lives to mesothelioma. Its stated mission is to raise awareness of mesothelioma, a fatal cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Organizers aim to raise $20,000 through registration fees and donations, with all proceeds benefiting the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
The event program includes an in-person 5K Run/Walk, a 5K Run/Walk Wheelchair division, an untimed Kids Dash, and a Virtual 5K. The 5K course follows the BPA Trail and goes through Celebration Park, with views of Mount Rainier. Registration fees listed are $30 for in-person events, $25 for the virtual 5K, and free for the Kids Dash. To guarantee a shirt and size, registration should be completed by June 15.
Race-day operations will include road closures and restricted access to the event parking lot during the morning hours. Alternative parking is available at Celebration Park and at City Hall, with an exit route via 334th Street toward 6th Ave. An awards ceremony and a silent auction are scheduled to occur after the run.
