Event information
The Mighty Mountain Run takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Camp Caraway, 4756 Caraway Mountain Rd, Sophia, NC 27350. The event is a trail run and walk fundraiser for camper scholarships at Caraway Conference Center and Camps, located in the Northern Uwharrie Mountains about 8 miles west of Asheboro. Registration opens January 7, 2026; online registration closes Friday, May 9. Distances offered:

Course and race features
The course runs on Camp Caraway property and includes rolling hills, gravel, asphalt, and single-track trails through hardwood forest near creeks and lakes. The general route includes an elevation climb of over 400 ft. The 5K goes over Longarm Ridge and follows a mix of trail, gravel, and asphalt. The 10K includes two climbs - Longarm Ridge and Orchard Mountain - with roughly 350 ft of elevation gain in the first 1.5 miles; surfaces include gravel road, rocky single track, and a section alongside an 80 ft rock face. The event uses professional chip timing. Awards and participant items include trophies for top finishers, age group awards, medals for all participants, a free race t-shirt for registrations by April 1, free snacks at the finish, and other giveaways.
