Courses and race rules
Swims are held in the Mississinewa Reservoir with a beach time-trial start and buoyed turns; wetsuit use follows USAT temperature rules. Bike courses use quiet county roads with low traffic and a few minor hills; Half Iron bike is two laps. The run is on a smooth paved park path and is an out-and-back route. Aid stations are available near transition and roughly every mile on the run; there are no aid stations on the bike course. Mandatory equipment and rule points include CPSC-approved helmets for cycling, no personal audio devices during the race, body marking and race numbers, and USAT race rules enforcement. Contingency plans include converting races to duathlon, bike-only, swim-and-run, or run-only formats if conditions make parts of the course unsafe.
