The Firecracker 5K is the 22nd annual 5-kilometre event held on July 4, 2026, in Peru, Indiana. The venue is the Peru Fire Department at 85 W Canal St, Peru, IN 46970. Proceeds benefit the Miami County YMCA.
Race features and awards
The event includes performance shirts, custom finisher medals, disposable tag timing, food, and grab-bag items. There is a Garmin Forerunner drawing: all participants receive one entry and registering by June 27, 2026 grants one additional entry. Awards are given to overall male and female finishers, 1st through 3rd place male and female in the following age groups: 14 and younger; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 and older. An award category for Most Patriotic Participants is also included.
Registration
The entry fee is listed as $20 and is noted to increase after June 1, 2026. Registrations are accepted at the Miami County YMCA and online.
